The Little Plant
author unknown
In the heart of a seed,
Buried deep so deep,
A tiny plant
Lay fast asleep.
"Wake," said the sunshine,
"And creep to the light,"
"Wake," said the voice
Of the raindrops bright.
The little plant heard
And it rose to see,
What the wonderful,
Outside world might be.
It is time to plant our seeds, the seeds of change. "Wake" we say. "Grow towards the sunshine. Grow into food to nourish our bodies."
ONE "hopes to plant a seed of change in the G8! Together, we can stop malnutrition, not just for one child, but for 15 million. We can end poverty, not just for one person, but for 50 million. Together we can break the cycle."
To remind us of the importance of each tiny seed, my daughter made her own home-made paper using a large screen.
She added treasures to the paper mash from the garden to make it rich in color and depth before putting it on the screen. When the paper was dry, the picture was assembled.
The poem was added to the front using a printed tag board, string and toothpicks. The string goes through all layers of handmade paper and tag board to fasten it together. We then hung it in on the wall in her room.
